About Aarona

A lover of movement, a designer of lifestyle, and a believer in the power of collective awareness – Aarona is a dedicated teacher and guide.
Born in Los Angeles and relocating at least 10 times while growing up, her perspective was shaped by an array of people, places, and practices. This laid the groundwork for her unique and hybrid style of teaching and her understanding of living today. Aarona shares what inspires her and believes that a commitment to our own personal development is all it takes to make dynamic shifts in our wellbeing and happiness.
On the mat, Aarona offers a dynamic and unique yoga practice full of vigor and grace. Through playful and challenging sequences combined with thoughtfully selected music she guides students to dive deep into the body to utilize the brilliance of their focus and breath and build confidence in perhaps uncomfortable places. Connecting breath to movement, feet to core, and head to heart, Aarona’s classes cultivate personal power and awareness so that one can apply this in their individual and personal life. Her ongoing practice and shared teaching techniques help to build strength, a steady flow, a calm mind, and a fierce presence – both on and off the mat.

Who is this trip for?
This trip is designed for people with all levels of yoga and adventure experience. Men, women, couples, best friends, old friends and soon to be new friends. Our goal is to connect as deeply as possible to nature and to the cultural core of this beautiful place. I mean how often do you get to go to Iceland with a group of people that are passionate about such similar things?! This means we’ll be outside as much as possible, hiking to hot springs, walking in mossy fields, following rivers to see where they take us, climbing glaciers etc. Nothing we do is mandatory but everything we have planned is irresistible. This is not a “luxury yoga retreat” by any means, that’s not why we go to Iceland, but don’t be surprised if you fall in love with all of the charming places we stay, or the healthy food we work hard to find in a country known most for it’s fermented shark meat and it’s puffins.

Itinerary/Accommodation
Our trip will include daily yoga practice, meditation, hot spring soaks, hikes and more. We’ve also made room for plenty of free time and optional trips. Each day will be a little different as we are truly traveling and exploring this beautiful country.
We are working with the best hotels and locations in Iceland to give you 3 different experiences, a fun hotel on a farm in the south, a cozy bed and breakfast in the center of Reykjavik and a world renowned eco-lodge on the magical Snaefellsnes Peninsula.
Days 1-3
We’ll spend 2 nights exploring the quiet area of Reykholt where we’ll hike in Husafell to a beautiful waterfall and spend time adjusting to the daylight and timezone in the stillness of this beautiful and historical farmland.
Foss Hotel Iceland
Days 3-6
We’ll spend 3 nights in Reykjavik at Hlin’s bed and breakfast! Here we’ll soak in the magic of this unique city. We’ll practice yoga at the local Yoga Shala, eat delicious food, take day trips and explore the music and night life that is so abundant in this fantastic city.

Review:
“The Best Thing We Did in Iceland Was stay at the Forsaela Apartmenthouse”
My partner Ali and I had a number of spectacular experiences in Iceland, from exploring the volcanoes of Vestmannaeyjar to hiking on Mýrdalsjökull – we had an awesome time. The last three nights of our journey, however, afforded us an opportunity to relax and enjoy the city of Reykjavik from the comfortably appointed and perfectly located Forsaela Guesthouse. Lest you think this review is based on location, location, location, however, I’m leaving out the absolute best part about the experience – our host Hlin! To say that Hlin went above and beyond to make us feel at home is an understatement. Great local advice, delightful conversation and spectacular breakfasts await you!
We look forward to visiting Reykjavik again soon. First on the list – booking our accommodations with Hlin. Thanks for making our trip such a success.
Ali & Dave, Washington DC
Days 6-8
From Reykjavik will journey to the magical Snæfellsnes Peninsula to spend our last two nights. Here we’ll be surrounded by the beauty of the ocean, national parks, a gorgeous glacier and more.
Hotel Hellnar
Certified by the international certification program GREEN GLOBE 21 as a sustainable accommodation since 2002. The hotel was awarded the Icelandic Tourist Board’s Environmental Award in 2000, and again in 2004
Review:
“Overall this was our favorite hotel in Iceland. The location was perfect for what we wanted to do, the rooms were very comfortable, and we had a great stay.” traveler
Food
Both hotels offer healthy gourmet food. Typically featuring a hearty soup and creative main course. Most of the food is organic and local. Both chefs are very accomplished and offer delicious vegetarian options as well as fresh, local fish and meat for those that eat it. Breakfasts are usually buffet style featuring cheeses, fruits, skyr(icelandic yogurt), cereals, juices and coffee/tea. Lunch’s are also buffet style featuring fresh salads, hard boiled eggs, barely/rice/other grains and delicious soups. We can accommodate most food requests as long as we know in advance!
In Reykjavik you’ll be going out for lunch and dinner or have the option to cook at our B&B. Breakfast will be included. Because we will not always be eating together people expect to to pay for 1-2 meals a day while we are in Reykjavik. There are a few delicious vegetarian restaurants and one raw food restaurant near the studio. There are a lot of international options including a delicious Indian restaurant that we ate at last year.
